Limited edition prints

I’ve a bunch of prints of cars on film that I would love to get into the hands of people who are interested in collecting them.  In an effort to move these prints I’m offering a limited sale of blind packs of 2 for $20 with free shipping.

The blind packs will contain two matte prints with sizes of 4x6, 5x7, and 5x5.

Environmental Portraits Jon Talbott

My partner, Stacy Keck, and I have started on our list of environmental portraits that we want to make of creatives and people who have unique studio/living spaces. Our first subject was Jon Talbott of Talbott & Sons Leather Goods based in San Diego, Ca.

Founded in 1974 by his father, Jerry Talbott, which Jon has now taken over the namesake and continues to make quality leather camera goods by hand just as his father did.

These photos are from the first of a series that Stacy and I are starting on where we get to know these artists in their studios and make portraits of them in their natural environment.

I made these photos with a Mamiya C220 on Kodak Portra 400 film.

Double Exposures on Film

Canon AE-1 Program Double Exposure with Kodak Portra 400 35mm Film

Some of my most favorite and memorable photographs that I’ve been making lately have been of double exposures. I think what I enjoy the most about creating double exposures on film is that you don’t always know what you’re going to get until the film has been developed.

There seems to be an endless amount of possibilities to take an ordinary image and expose it twice to come up with something that makes it unusual and more interesting to the eye.

If you’re interested in making double exposures of your own here’s a good youtube tutorial on how to set your camera to make them.

Of course setting your camera up to take double exposures is only part of the
process. The other part however is the thought process and technical
settings that go along with it which photographer Wendy Laurel explains well in her tutorial here: Double Exposure on Film Tutorial.
